First Q&A Forum

By WTP Indiana Revival

I want to thank WTP Indiana Revival for having me at their Q&A Forum last Thursday. I got to meet a lot of great people, respond to questions from the community, and get an idea of what I’ll be facing as campaign season progresses.

I was really happy with the way the event went. The venue was lovely, and I thought I’d be a lot more nervous than I was. A lot of people don’t know this about me, but I actually have really terrible stage fright. So much so that my leg will sometimes shake uncontrollably while public speaking. Any Veteran can tell you, though, that having courage isn’t about not being afraid. It’s about being willing to face that fear for a greater good.

Early on, I distinguished myself from the beginning as the non-politician, and I let the audience know that I didn’t come preloaded with flowery words or speeches. Then I gave them direct answers, told them what I stood for, and was the only one that kept all my responses within the time allotted. I was also the only one that received an audible exclamation of affirmation for my position on solar farms and subsidies (more on that later), and my positions in general seemed consistently well-received.

With Republican challenger Paula Copenhaver having to plead ignorance on multiple occasions and Democrat David Sanders not even bothering to show up in person (and dropping out about halfway through), it’s fair to say that I’ve already started to establish myself as the strongest challenger to the current incumbent of Indiana State Senate District 23.

I also want to thank all the people who reached out and offered kind words of support. I knew I was taking a chance by not preparing rhetoric and talking points in advance, as did the other candidates, but my sincerity and authenticity seem to have shown through. It’s the support of Hoosiers like you that keep me moving forward against the grain and against the odds. The duopoly cannot defeat us for We ARE the People.
