Howdy, Hoosiers. The time has come again for yet another Hump Day Update, where I tell you what I’ve been up to, keep you up-to-date on the campaign, and give you a glimpse of what’s planned for the immediate future.
Last week, I ended up spending a lot of time on refining Article VII of the Anti-Corruption Act: Public Deception. As I mentioned in the videos, there were a lot of problems with the approach I was taking initially, but I think framing the concept as fraud-based regulation is the right way to go. Anytime you’re talking about potentially messing with First Amendment protected activities, it warrants taking the time to ensure you’re not infringing on the rights of the People.
Campaign yard signs are in, so expect to start seeing them throughout the district. Again, if anybody would be interested in hosting one of my signs in your yard, feel free to reach out. Otherwise, I will likely look for the most strategic placements I can find in the coming months.
Another huge shout out to We the People Indiana Revival for putting on another informative and well-organized town hall. It was a good group of candidates, good questions, and the organization always makes sure to ensure respectful engagement across party lines. I look forward to seeing what they have planned for after the primaries.
Today, I had a great discussion with the President of the Indiana Coalition for Public Education about an initiative I’m working on to help strengthen public education in Indiana. She helped to bring my attention to a lot of problems that I wasn’t already aware of and pointed me in the right direction to help me to refine my approach. I look forward to working with the organization more in the future to better serve Indiana’s students and teachers.
A quick look ahead: We’ve got a big meeting coming up tomorrow for Montezuma Elementary School, and if everything goes well, I think we’re going to get some exciting news soon. Other than that, I’ve mostly cleared my schedule to focus efforts on getting enough signatures for ballot access by the deadline in June. Strategies are taking shape and the signature blitz is about to begin, so expect to see me out in the community a lot more in the very near future. Well, I hate to rush this, but time is of the essence and an ally to no one.
Until next time, District 23, have yourselves a better-than-great weekend. I’ll be thinking about ya.
Genuinely,
Joshua Brant
